Why should I study Creative Digital Media?
This vocational and practical course is ideal for students who would like to build their creative digital media portfolio and production skills. The course provides a balance of breadth and depth, while retaining a degree of choice for individual learners to study content relevant to their own interests and progression choices
What will I study?
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels. You will study ten units over the two year course with four mandatory units and six optional units. Units you may study:
• Scriptwriting: You will investigate how to effectively write scripts for a variety of media outputs and look at how scripts are constructed.
• Digital Game Production: You will study the design, creation, testing and evaluation of a game through the system life cycle.
• Media Enterprise: You will investigate how to initiate and develop an idea within the media industry. Developing essential skills to research, problem solve, plan and produce a new media product or service.
• Film Production Skills: You will study the design, creation, testing and evaluation of a film.
How will I be assessed?
20% externally assessed assessment by the exam board with 80% of this course being internally assessed assignments. This is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing tasks and assignments that are based on realistic situations.
You will gain the specialist knowledge and skills which will prepare you for a range of higher education courses, an apprenticeship or an exciting career within the digital communications, media and creative industries.
5 Full Course GCSEs at grade A*- C including English Language and Mathematics at grade 4 or above.
To study this subject a minimum GCSE grade B or equivalent qualification in ICT/Computing is required.
