BTEC Sport gives you the opportunity to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector or to progress to higher education in sport or related areas. It also gives you the opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
What will I study?
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate is equivalent to one A Level. The course will provide you with a broad basis of study for the sport sector. You will cover four units over two years. This course will allow you to develop the core specialist knowledge, understanding and skills required of the sport sector, including anatomy and physiology, fitness training and practical sport.
How will I be assessed?
50% of this course will be assessed coursework and 50% will be a combination of controlled assessment and a written examination. This is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing tasks and assignments that are based on realistic situations.
The course will give you the foundation to progress into higher education, an apprenticeship or a career in the sports and leisure industry.
Why should I choose Sport?
If you enjoy sport but do not want to specialise totally in one area, then this is the course for you.
